Loudoun Dog Parks

By Misty B.

July already?! There are lots of things to see and do with your dog this Summer. Getting out to see some of our area’s Dog Parks is a great start! Remember to bring some water for you and your pup. Some parks in our area include water hoses/access but not all. Most parks are open from dawn until dusk. And remember to pick up after your dog.

It is important to remember that not all dogs are great candidates for the dog park. Some dogs are too shy, nervous, reactive, dominant, or they can find the park too overstimulating. Be sure to be a responsible pet owner and only bring your dog to the park if they are fully comfortable around other dogs. Be prepared to leave if your dog does not react as you had hoped.

Some dog parks in the area include:

  • Berni Hanson Dog Park- 41871 Correspondent Dr, Stone Ridge, VA 20105

There is a large grassy area with some agility training courses, covered area to sit, and a new small dog section! It does get pretty soggy here after rain so be sure to bring a towel to clean those paws!

  • Olde Izaak Walton Pond- 850 Davis Court, SE Leesburg, VA 20175

A large mulch area for running that is covered by trees. There is a separate area for small and big dogs. There is also a hose for clean-off and water bowls.

  • Landsdowne Town Center- 19350 Winmeade Dr, Leesburg, VA 20176

There is a large fenced-in gravel area for dogs to run.

  • South Riding Dog Park- 25152 Elk Lick Rd Chantilly, VA 20152

There is a grassy area but no water available. Be sure to bring an extra bottle!

  • Dulles Gateway Park-4508 Upper Cub Run Dr Chantilly, VA 20151

There is a shaded area and some agility training equipment.

  • Creighton West Dog Park- Creighton Rd, Leesburg, VA 20175

Located along the trail that runs from Creighton Road to Ryan Road, two separate parks: one area for dogs 25 pounds and under, and another area for dogs of any size. All Brambleton residents are free to use the space to let dogs play off-leash, as long as they are cleaned up after. The park is open every day of the week from dawn until dusk.
